some more landscape images from my recent trip isolated from the mono lake and man made scape series... though there is another image of mono lake in this thread. thanks in advance for appreciating and giving your thoughts... cheers!
Star of Yosemite - driving up to Tioga Pass from Mono Lake, quick stop for some snow fun as I had my 3 yr old daughter with me. quite a story to this, i burned 4 batteries from all the travel shots I took since Dec 21, this was taken Jan 2. Left my charger in SanFo, had to spent $33 to buy 6 pcs of lithiums just to be able to shoot the sunrise in mono lake (see previous thread: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1078075/0)
and all the juice I got left I squeezed in this shot in the morning after a couple of snaps from frozen ellery lake.
The Gathering - my first sunrise shot of Mono Lake, was drawn to this seeing the Tufa's in a semi circle... sort of like a meeting of the grand jury theme.
Condemned - after a flurry of shopping in Las Vegas, I urged my Uncle and my family to let me have a sunset at Red Rock Canyon, there was no time to hike so I opted to stay by the road and kept on looking for some interesting foregrounds and found this eerie one. I had a 17-40 F4L on mount and as soon as the sun peaked out of some clouds quickly pulled my 16-35 M2 from my bag to achieve the burst.
Moonrise over Merced - I had hoped to catch this scene in a land of white but winter got there late so I had to take what my days would give me. Roads were forming black ice which made for a very slow drive, it was freezing cold luckily there wasn't any wind. Went back the next morning for some other takes, didn't bother to go around the trails though... was concerned my wife was getting a flu. Will definitely be back to get the shot I was aiming for.
The Red and White - taken from Baker Beach, wanted a shot with the lights on and the waves playing on the sand. Would have been nice to have some clouds but that's pretty much how it was last 2 weeks of 2011. Lucky are those who live nearby, still yearning for some shots that are on my list involving the Golden Gate.
