One of the main characteristics of Bodie is that the California State Parks has used a policy of "suspended decay." Maintenance, but no "improvements," and very little adjustment for tourist wants (they do have flushing toilets ).

Right, mate- I ate a burrito for breakfast and drove a bumpy, "steel" road to get there, and then I needed a seat belt to use the bog. Fun place.
