Just for grins I decided to try to make a stereoscopic image in the Valley of Fire State Park. This is a first effort at something like this so as you might expect there is a learning curve to getting it right. I find it a little harder to bring into focus than the ones John Richter has been posting regularly but it does allow a fun view into the topography of the VOF once your eyes adjust.
Grins indeed! I'd stare at that for days if I wasn't worried about my eyes getting stuck. I didn't have too much trouble focusing once I put my glasses on. I would have never guessed there were that many layers to it just by looking at a single image.
Alan, works fine for me......you can have a lot of fun with these images...try varying the exposures and PP on each separate image to see what happens!
cheers Andrew
In this case I took one shot and then stepped sideways about 18" and took another. Both were hand held. I tried to use thee same spot on one of the more distant features as the focal point of the scene. As I understand it I should have made the second shot with a focal point just to the side to match the change in position.
Very nice. Popped right in for me. It's a little harder on the eyes when viewing the landscape style 3D's. It seems I need to go further with the crossing of the eyes. It is suggested to shoot portrait style for 3D for this reason I suspect.
Cool shot, I hope you shot more of these down there.
