Quite a number of abbreviations to start with in the title, but have a question.
I got this 70-300mm DO IS lens used, and have been happy with it so far. But when I picked it up today, I noticed that the focus ring and especially the zoom ring wobble (vertically), must have gotten a bit worse/loose. It's not flimsy or anything, just wondering if the the wobble normal, might have to do with the long lens creep? Is it something that can be repaired/serviced?
Hans -
I've had mine for several years and had to send it in for servicing when a couple of the tiny screws in the barrel (near the front end) had fallen out without my noticing - and a third one was loose. This caused the front element holding area (I don't know the proper name for this) to wobble a bit and slip into a canted angle. Check those screws (and any other you can see); maybe they're the problem. The barrel assembly (two parts) has otherwise never wobbled, actually it's quite solid fitting and, since that servicing trip, doesn't even creep when held down. Good luck with it - I've always enjoyed mine.
