This is not the case. It doesn't truly mask it with a 50 percent black like the D3 or D4 do. It just makes a box like the D700. I really wish they had added the higher-end masking." smjphoto Offline • • Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #5 · D800 Crop Modes & Viewfinder if you read the comments following the pictures in the link, you'll find that some one states you can set the d700 to have masking also: I didn’t realize that turning the AF Point Illumination off (Menu item A6) would also enable the masking. Thanks ovas. I’m sure that means the D800 will do that too.
