Nikon also introduces a Mini-D4 small bodied FX or they announce a 24-70mm with VR.
Not trying to stir up stuff... actually I am a little bit but really Nikon is on a roll, I want them to keep going. I heard their motto was "Shut people up" and man are they doing just that.

Photographers will buy the tools that do the job. Fan-boys wear team shirts and quote slogans. My head will never explode because Canon technology falls behind Nikon. When my gear doesn't do what I need it to do, I'll swap it out. And I won't have to change my shirt.

I'd hate to have to swap out $20k of camera gear again. I recently did change from one of the minor players to Nikon, and I'm here for the duration. I won't "change shirts" because I don't worry about those that shoot the other systems, and likewise don't care much about what they think of my kit.
To the OP. Why worry about what would make their "heads explode"? Is it supposed to make you look smarter or something?

Probably that D400 with FX 16MP from the D4.
But what would make the Nikon folk complain about on the forums from Canons release. A 30MP camera with better dynamic range and image quality with a 1Dx AF, metering, no AA filter and other such goodies (assuming AF, metering, and other such goodies are as good as they say) in a body that costs $2799.

As a Canon user, nothing Nikon does is going to make my head explode. However, if they introduce a top quality 24-70 with IS and a sub $2K camera super quality cropper to go along with the D800 I think a lot of people will take notice.

Operationalizing "heads explode" to mean switching from Canon to Nikon, then for me it would be a full series of tilt-shift lenses, all operating with the versatility and at the image quality and distortion-free level of Canon's 24mm TS-E II. I want the 14mm, 17mm, 21mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 45mm, 65mm, 90mm, 125mm, and 180mm. That, plus even better live view focus than Canon offers—with an LCD screen big enough and bright enough and detailed enough to be absolutely sure of focus over the entire image, even in bright light.
That would do it. Or Canon could do it. What I would like even better would be if Zeiss did it, because I do like Zeiss color and contrast.
Unfortunately, I think I read somewhere that something about the Nikon mount prohibits building even one of those lenses (I know Nikon offers tilt and shift, but the article said something about the mount restricts the large image circle Canon offers, or something). Hope that's wrong, because it would mean Canon has no particular incentive either. The combination of live view focusing and tilt/shift lenses is such a natural that I expected Canon to go crazy with it after I saw the new 24 TS-E. Didn't happen. So I am still waiting.

Wasn't it just a couple of years ago when everyone wondered if Nikon could ever catch up with Canon? Isn't talking about other people's heads exploding a little juvenile?

Seems some Canonites (quite a few on FM anyway) are quite fragile and volatile folk, judging by their initial reaction to the D800 (insecure perhaps?). Now the dust has settled and they are drawing comfort from the rumoured 5Dx & 5D3 specs which I'm sure will come to fruition. BUT if they don't, I do expect some gnashing of teeth and the odd head explosion
BTW I doubt Nikon will VR the next 24-70. As for a mini D4, it makes sense and it would sell well, so it probably means Nikon won't make it

You guys are too serious. If it was intended to troll then he succeeded. If not, then just have some fun with it. Let me just say, they are just warming up buddy. You didn't hear? The new D4x is being announced next month!
