Hey everyone, i've been around here off and on for a while, mostly admiring and learning from all your work but finally, i need to consistently start sharing some of my stuff so i can get better. While getting a good shot in the arm (for photography) by getting myself a 5d2, i've been more determined lately to explore some of our local coastline here in the south bay. This was my first outing with the new camera, all four of these with the 17-40. Comments/criticism appreciated =)
You got some really nice shots here, that's great that you decided to post some. All of these are really nice, the only one I have a suggestion for is #1. I like the view, but that bit of a fence in the lower left is a distraction. Perhaps moving slightly you could have eliminated that. #3 and 4 are my favorites.
It's funny you mention the fence being a distraction in the first shot because when i was deciding where to shoot, i thought the fence may have added something to that larger section of hill that otherwise would have been quite plain. I definitely see what you're saying about it being a distraction, though.
With respects to JimFox who is light years beyond me, here's a second vote for the fence --- gives definition to the slope; without it the changes of depth in the foreground would be awkward. ( see right side ).
I like all of these but #1 is my favorite - the marine layer adds a great deal to it for me and the light really gives texture to the bluff. I'm on the fence about the fence...
