p.1 #1 · Lens Skins Experiences?

I was reading the current issue of Shutterbug and saw an advertisement for a product call Lens Skins Lens Skins website They are basically a thin, pressure sensitive vinyl skin that covers the non-rubberized parts of your lens. They come in dozens of prints and patterns. I was thinking a camo version would be a good alternative to the neoprene Real Tree lens coats that cost much more. Has anyone tried this product? I'd love to hear your feedback, good, bad, or indifferent.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

I ordered one back in January, yet to receive...figured I'd give them till the end of the week before I say "wth is going on!"

I ordered the 14-24 one, to protect the hood with the LeeSW150 on it. I would prefer the lens skins but they would be too thick for this purpose.

Assuming I receive it, I think it will work...it is annoying since I am heading off in a week & really wanted it on the lens prior to going.

I bought a $4 roll of vinyl camo gunstock tape at Wallyworld. It's been on my 400/5.6 for over a year and a half now and still looks good.

I'm not getting a warm, fuzzy feeling from them so far. Mike hasn't received his yet, and I sent them an email via their website and they haven't answered back. Seems the customer service end of the business is lacking somewhat.

I made my own lenscoat too.

A well stocked outdoor fabric store here has camo neoprene. I cut the strips to size and simply glued the ends with contact cement. I have them on my 300 and 400mm lenses, they look good, do what they're supposed to and I think I might have $6 tied up in each.

Funny your looking into this. I'm on my way down to get some tape as we speak. I'll. Let you know how it works out.

aparently mine has shipped now, missed the deadline for my trip as I am sitting in the airport waiting to go...They did say sorry for the delay & added an additional one for good measure, hopefully it is a funky love heart one!
