It's more of a character lens from what I've seen. I really like the retro look from some of the sample pics but not sure if it's going to work out on the NEX7 sensor.
CV15................new favorite
FD 50 1.4.........rescued from way back in the closet still attached to AE1
OM 28 3.5........it was cheap, why not
Sony 18-200... for a 1 lens travel kit, but I'm not sold
plus the others:
Sony 18-55
Canon 70-300L
ZE 21, 50, 100
Local camera store has a 400 of some type (Tamron I think) that will be looked at
Getting ready to re-add a couple of AF lenses for the pleasure of occasional laziness:
Zeiss 24
Sony 50
On the fence about keeping Jena 135/3.5 for my NEX kit, as it's most seldom used... Though when I do use it, it's fantastic, so who knows about it for sure.
Primary: Elmarit-M 21, Summilux-M 35, and Summicron-M 90 (all pre-ASPH)
Extended: Minolta 17/4, Pen-F 25/2.8
On the fence: Canon LTM 35/2 (once I get the hood and some series 7 HC color filters for the lux, this will probably go) and the Pen-F 60/1.5 (I hardly use it, but am having a hard time letting go for some reason)
Soon to be sold: Canon FD 17/4, Minolta 21/2.8, 28/2, 45/2

There's more than one? It's an MD W.Rokkor-X with the more plasticy build. Is there any other way to differentiate the versions?
there are 4 different cosmetic versions i think (MC, MD W w/ 55mm filter, MD W w/49mm filter, and MD w/49mm filter and no rokkor label) and 2 different optical versions (55mm filter thread and 49mm filter thread).
if it's a 49mm filter thread one i'll trade you my 55mm filter thread version MD W for it.

All these things I didn't know. But we've got the same lens. It's a 55mm filter.

ah, oh well. it's difficult to keep track of all the minolta variations over the years. i passed up a reasonably priced 49mm filter thread one 3 years ago and i haven't seen one since.
do you guys know the Manual Minolta Lens Index great fro keeping track of the different versions
About the 28/2 E49 i read that its optically the same as the AF version which has a pretty good reputation.
No, I was not aware of that site. Thanks, Phillip.
However, if it's true that the 49mm is closely related to the Maxxum 28/2, then I'd stick with the 55mm MD. My MD is much better across the frame at f/4 and below, and the Maxxum didn't improve the CA or COMA issues. It was very fast to focus, though.
