I'd think the likelihood of the MB-D12 working with the D7000 would be nil. If it did, then surely, the MB-D11 would work with the D800 and Nikon wouldn't have made the MB-D12?
If you're after a grip for your D7K, then go with the genuine Nikon MB-D11. Lots of people whine about the cost, but it's guaranteed to work, weather sealed, and built to be abused.
Considering that the MB-D10 for the D300/D700 has a MSRP of $334.00 the $616.00 MSRP for the MB-D12 is a rip-off and calling it such is not whining but only stating the facts. Only a fool would consider it whining to not be complacent about being taken advantage of by a company to which they have been a loyal customer.
The 800E with the battery pack becomes a $4,000 camera which is a bit much for this level of camera. Nikon is taking advantage of its customers, again, with its predatory pricing. No reasonable justification for charging 84% more for the battery pack for the D800 than one for the D700. The MB-D12 is to sell for the cost of a D3100 camera which is a much more complicated item to manufacturer for Nikon.
