p.2 #1 · Why not us?

To think that Canon doesn't know what photographers want is crazy. But there is a difference in giving customers what they want, and running a successful business. As a customer, if you don't like the products a company comes out with, you have the choice of not buying them. Canon owes you nothing more than the products and service you purchase from them.

And that is exactly why Nikon looks more and more desirable every day. Because overall their system is NOTHING LIKE THAT cold, business-oriented "hi we're going to truncate it, if you don't want our product we don't care" angle Canon is so well known for.

As far I see, CPS here in germany does not really has an other function, then calibrate unhappy users L lenses for free within warranty.

That's the point, letters to the editor aren't worth much, you have to find some iggies to squeeze if you want anything real to happen.

People loved the 5d. People loved the 5dII. People love the 7d. Now people are bitching that Canon never gives customers what they want. That opinion doesn't make sense to me, at least until you know the specs on the 5dIII.

:-) exactly. For Nikon it was that D800. Why not same for Canon?

There's a lot of Nikon users grumbling over "all those MPs" why do we need them etc.

That is true. I read their forum and it is the same like 3 years ago. While here Canonians whined "no enhancment in AF!" Nikonians asked themselves why we are not happy with what we got. Today Canonians again seem more enthusiastic about D800 than Nikonians are. They say: "It is fine something happened, but who needs this?"

...of course.

Thing is we don't have any direct channel to stand toe-to-toe with anybody from Canon other than at shows, CPS events, etc., and on the other side, does anything you lay out get back up the channel to any movers and shakers?

CPN puts on a nice show, probably done by marketing, but while they are pouring out their output are they taking in any input? As long as there are limited direct channels between photographers and Canon, decisions will be made by marketing people working in mentally incestuous circles and vague impressions from outside their closed society.

Take a look at how it works at Nikon if you think they are delivering on dialog with photographers. I don't know more about it than what I see on Nikonians, which, honestly, sends me fleeing back here.

I like to have an upgradable camera. I hope this type of plug-and-play module soon available in the future. Yes, all you need is swapping better modules

...imagine, an AF module. You pop it out like a CF card, drop it in an envelope and mail it to Canon for a custom tune on the red channel cause you are shooting for Ferrari.
