Fred has talked in the past about using select color range and guassian blur to create the mask to merge 2 images. I've tried that with limited success. Does anyone know of a tutorial for creating a smooth blend between the shadow and the highlight exposures?

And yes, I own photomax but I'm always interested in learning to improve my photoshop technique.
