Two youngish males having a go at one another while waiting for freeze up on the bay. This sparring helps get them in shape for the real thing that will come on the ice -- either defending their seal kill or fighting for a female. These boys will gain 500-600 lbs eating seal -- and I have never seen them this big. But later this year, I am planning an expedition out to the floe edge in a Zodiac to try to get the big males at or near the end of the feeding season. From the few photos that I have seen of them at that time of year, they look like small school buses. All the best, Andrew
lovely shot, would love to see one, if you have it, with all the bears parts showing
Hey Larry -- When you are about 120ft from the truck with only a 600mm on tripod and the bears move a bit closer to you, you take what you get, even if it means cutting off their feet. Cheers, Andrew
Wonderful Shot I'm wondering if you set your exposer at -07 ?? I hope you don't mind me asking because you can see every hair well done. Ed Now lets see more
