I don't imagine wedding photographers will be gobbling this lens up. Sports and PJ shooters, maybe.

Lack of IS probably won't be a huge issue given the wave of ultra high ISO cameras that are coming. The price is a serious issue though.

Yep William, I'm not sure I'll be running out to grab one at that price

it would need to be as sharp as a 35L .. but somehow I can't see it ever being so ...

My 24-70 is razor sharp. My 70-200 is first version is very sharp. Give me something to think about canon, I don't need these. How about a better flash system, what happened with the rumor of the 630? EX, that's far more interesting and beneficial.

It does weigh less and is smaller. And the sharpness should rival the Nikon version. That's worth something.

Don't forget the zoom lock. That's gotta be worth a few bucks, eh?lol The 70-200 2.8II was a few hundred bucks over the ver1 so some people could justify the premium to upgrade for the increase in performance...but basically doubling the asking price? Get real.
