I have read that the D800 will do 6fps in DX mode with a grip and the bigger battery. I like this idea but to be honest I would be fine with 5ps in full frame. I haven't read anything that would indicate this would be possible even with the grip and bigger battery.
Does anyone know if this is possible or are we stuck with 4fps in fx mode regardless if you have a grip and an extra battery or not.?
I have a question on this feature and I was wondering if I can get an answer:
FX-format
(L) 7,360 x 4,912
(M) 5,520 x 3,680
(S) 3,680 x 2,456
1:2 format (30 x 20)
(L) 6,144 x 4,080
(M) 4,608 x 3,056
(S) 3,072 x 2,040
5:4 format (30 x 24)
(L) 6,144 x 4,912
(M) 4,608 x 3,680
(S) 3,072 x 2,456
Does it mean that I can get a smaller RAW file if I downgrade the size format or does this only apply for jpeg?
Unless Nikon have changed things without mentioning it, the only sizes available in raw will be the full size of the respective crops - so 36(FX), 30(5:4), 25 (1.2x) and 15(1.5x) MP.
Try setting your CL mode to 4fps and using that for a bit - that should give you a clue as to whether you'll really miss the faster framerate.

Thanks!
6 FPS with Grip in DX or 1.2 crop mode with D4 battery and or rechargeable AA batteries. It will do 5 FPS with grip and second d800 battery.
I doubt that Quang. Unlike Canon, I don't think Nikon offers sRAW, at least not in any of their current DSLR. It might be a patent thing that Canon got.

Thanks for clearing the up. I guess I've never gone to the lower in each format. Always stayed to the full sizes.

If that's true, it's depressing. I want one body to rule them all, but don't always want 36mp raw files.
I to am hoping for sRAW as there are many situations where I do not need all 36mp. 5:4 and 1.2 will work in some of these situations but it would be nice to have the SRAW for the others.
