to be honest, nobody really bought them.
those who could afford them could as well buy MF system.
those who were smart and bought them, probably have them paid for them self already.
there will not be many people hurt

they just do what will give them more moneys.
D3x is what had no sense when everybody could just buy Sony A850 + 1 awesome zeiss lens to do the same for less moneys. And A850 is not just good sensor in bad camera. A850 is overall awesome camera.
