So where's the fast sinking? All I see is they made a profit, just less than expected in the last 2 years. Nice thread title btw, dpreview forums overwhelmed atm?

Firing the President of a massive company like Canon is BIG news. They do not make moves that drastic unless things are really at the nightmare stage.
If you say so... They still managed to increase profits since last year, despite being almost wiped out by tsunami, and their exports selling for 25% less due to currency valuation. In the meantime, others have lost a few hundred trillions in the same period, and still marching ahead with the same President
For example today while Nikon announces two new prosumer full frame bodies that actually focus, Canon offers us a (supposedly) upgraded 24-70 at an almost double price point and still no prosumer full frame body that can properly focus. Thanks, but no thanks.

Thanks for disregarding the lens and body announcements for the past few months...
Canon is, however, putting some clamps on the dslr video market. I question that strategy, but if you are in to video, Canon offers a whole lot more than Nikon...

One can only hope....and add to that the 4005.6L with IS
Well, you are going to laugh. I finally said to the hell with it a couple of hours ago, packed up my thrice to CPS UU 100-400L, went to my favorite pro shop and traded it in for a brand new UZ 100-400L, sharp as a tack.
Now you can be certain a 100-400L IS Mark II will be announced very shortly.
