Do you really want 36MP for portraits? Won't the incredible detail reveal a lot of natural blemishes that are undesirable for portraits?

Medium format cameras are used by top professionals to capture detail in the studio. I'm not sure how that is a downside.

So much bitching, if you can'y afford it go buy a P&S, Phase 1 is at 80 mp.
Looks like a great camera.....two thumbs up for Nikon!

Revlon, Estee Lauder, et al - this poxy low resolution of 36MB isn't good enough for them.

I wasn't happy with the first photo linked as it appears as though the model was still moving slightly. Looks like it was lit with only a ring flash too.

At 100% you can see a clear line of plaque on her teeth showing. (I would not be happy if I was her)

White balance looks a bit cold.

I am still waiting to open the other one!

The preview images are pretty impressive. Lots of detail. The girl with the vail looks to have Visi-Tint contact lenses and she has a tiny spec of mascara under the edge of the lens of her right eye. And small blotches of mascara on her lid/brow area. WOW. Pixel peepers can go crazy with this camera.

Don't know yet but it does have 1.2x and 1.5x crop modes, which will produce smaller files.
