Hey everyone!
Well like a lot out there, I was in the same boat with jumping onto the web with a Flash based website. In this day ipads/iphones are absolutely huge which results in loosing client views. I had to find a way to get these views but I wanted to keep my site so myself & my designer went with a completely new, easy to use on devices, Mobile Site that you'll get directed to when needed!
I'm stoked on this and wanted to see what you all think of the mobile site, so a huge favor, if your on say an iphone or ipad just take the minute and try out www.joelsview.com let me know so I can get everything running smoothly!
Secondly, The city had a huge Bridal expo the past weekend. It went as great as it possibly could! This was my second time in the show, first in november, then now in Feb. And what a huge difference as to new brides/eager brides as its more of "the season" I always see posts/threads asking to see booths from bridal shows so I thought I'd contribute. Worked super hard on my setup and throughout the expo I think it really showed! Enjoy guys, All the best for this years weddings!
Hey Joel, looks good man! I have a couple suggestions for your booth if you do it again- (I know you didn't ask for
them but here they are anyways)
I can only see the whats in the above photo, but based on that, next time I would...
- open the booth up to make it inviting. Right now you have a barrier between the people and your work, and it's
in the shape of a table with black cloth over it. I would move that table to one side more and allow people to move
more into your space and be inside your work.
- I really love that blue color, but something about it is boring, and I think its just that there's too much blue. I
would ditch the black cover on the table, and bring a table with a nice dark wooden stain. In my opinion, there are
two ways to go with these booths:
way #1- really modern and minimalist, a strong color scheme, modern lighting, feels like a display
way #2- warm and inviting- more like a home, a room in your house, makes people comfortable
I think both ways are effective, and yours hovers more towards #1.
also, it would be bitching to put a small loveseat in there, and mount your display on the wall and invite people to sit, look at the books, and watch the slideshow.
anyways.... looks good overall man, and i'll check that mobile site when I get a second.
Open concept feel, inviting sit down, I had all that in mind and could also go on with ideas that I had very similar to your suggestions.
hands down all great, Now the expo.. I'm not completely sure how to explain it, basically everyone was Blown away with my booth. The expo consisted of many booths, enclosed exactly how they come with drapes on each side, and a long table to close the gap in the front. Setups on the table, and the vendors sitting behind it.
Which in turn made for a very fast paced expo, where brides were literally flying by grab bus card and move on, so for me to have the booth as it was and standing was very pleasing.
My approach was, this day is hectic already, there minds are FULL of A LOT of info, so They get the chance to get a look at the album, canvas prints, and I have a folded card ( two on the table ) that I say hey, When your at home, more relaxed, you can take the time to look through this, it has sample work, pricing, collections everything that they need to know, and this approach seemed VERY well.
Basically did the best I could with the atmosphere . But honestly couldn't agree more with you! You deffinatly have the right idea.
I'd love to hear what you think of the mobile site when ever you get the chance, Have an awesome night!
Very interested to hear how many leads and bookings you got from your show. I did one recently and went the more warm and inviting route. It was my first serious run at a wedding show after I did one 3 years ago when I was just starting out. Definitely took a more serious approach to this one. I picked up a couple weddings for 2012 and have a long list of good leads for 2013 but I'm trying to determine how to better that number or the next show I'm doing in a few weeks.
