The first looks pretty flat, with a big loss in detail. It looks like you either over-cropped it, had some motion blur, over compensated in PP, or all 3...
That is a good note on #1. It was getting dark out, and hard to get a shot on the horse without it moving, so instead it was a quick shot and then brighten the horse as much as possible......oh and the mtns are 10 miles away with haze out...so no f/16....more like f/5.6 at 200mm or so and 1/20th sec.

Denovo- I love both basic images. Especially of that magnificent horse.
I did some tinkering with the first image, and will be glad to post it here with your permission. But if you were going for super-saturated colors, then I'm way off in my efforts .

I was going for alot of color, but feel free to repost and lets see what you got.
I chose to leave in the color cast of the sky and then add another post photo filter to even it out some more, but I'm interested to see what you got.
I think I like your last take the most. Compared to my original-it looks better without that color cast on the horse and foreground. Definetly gives me some ideas of reworking that image....and even going back under brighter light and trying again someday.
