What is a decent UW zoom for the d700 aside form the magical 14-24? I have a 24-120f4 now. I had a 10-24 for my DX bodies but it is gone as i migrate partially to FX. I am looking at the 16-35 but fear it is not quite wide enough and to close the the 24mm wide end of the lens i currently have. Not many options out there from what i am seeing?
Steve, if your 10-24 was wide enough for you on the DX the 16-35 f4, if I'm thinking correctly regarding the DX sensor vs the FX is a 1.6 factor so if this is the case wouldn't the 16-35 be the same regarding how wide the field of view is? 10mm x 1.6 = 16mm

The 16-35 is a great lens and is very wide for FX. The other poster is right about the 10-24 DX = 15-36 in FX, so the 16-35 would do nice for you.
The only wide zoom that beats the 16-35 optically is the 14-24. The Sigma 12-24 and the Tokina 16-28 are worth considering, too.
I wouldn't get too concerned about overlap with your other zoom. That's more often a benefit than a drawback, and the sweet spot of the 16-35 is from 20-28mm. It's outstanding in that range, and will likely be much more satisfying there than the 24-120 (which is itself quite good).
If you think the 16-35 is not wide enough you can consider borrowing the lens on various websites and giving it a try. On FX, 16 is freaking wide imo =)
