Thought I'd share a fun bridal session we did at our local winery, New Kent Winery back before the holidays.
I realize and admit that my images don't have the abstract - vintage FM look that everyone loves here, but I'd still appreciate some C&C on the technical aspects (especially posing) if anyone could spare a couple minuets from their day. Thank you in advance!.
nice job!
Don't feel the need to follow the current trends of processing. Everyone is different! You have some really nice shots here and showcase the bride in a variety of different settings.
Next time try to work on a variety of expressions. These are good but I think you can get a wider range if you want.
Since you asked, I am a big fan of making the bride's waist look as small as possible. Often this is a big challenge. To this end, I do two things when photographing women. First, I select poses where I am allowed to turn the body so the waist looks it's slimmest. This usually involves avoiding the squarely straight on view of the body and the sideways view (depends on the subject's body build though). Second, I touch her with the liquify tool in PS being careful not to overdo it.
Generally, that's all you can do. Often, it's enough and brides are appreciative. Good luck with your portraiture.
Like the set and your processing.
On 7, I might crop above the door and outside the lanterns on the wall. The windows peeking in from the side are distracting and the rope coming off of the pulleys has a noose vibe to it...
@ Doug - Thanks. I didn't realize I'd picked all smiling shots until you and others pointed it out. Though, she was quite a smiler and her mom kept making her laugh. Those two were a pair. Anyway, thanks for the comments and support.
@ Robin - I do, we have sometime like 98 in the gallery. I just picked a few that I thought supported our 'brand'... though that's still a work in progress.
@WNStudio - Thanks, she does. As I was telling Doug, I picked more of her smiling than I realized. Though, I appreciate you all picking up on that and point it out to me.
@Vance - Thanks for the C&C. I hadn't really thought too much about her size but I see where you're coming from. I'll have to watch that more on our next session. Thanks.
@morganb4 - Thanks. The blue bottles were on this wine bottle tree they had outside... kinda cool. I see what your saying about 5b... I used the level tool on the building buy may had missed. Thanks for the C&C.
@qwyjibo - The more I look at 7, the more I agree with you. Thanks for the C&C.
