Spotted this wild tusker during mid day at a close range on my Yala National Park visit. Total population of elephants in Sri Lanka according to 2011 censes is 5,879. The number of tuskers out of that amount is only 122.
All shots are with my 70-200 f4.
On our way to Yala, we stayed at the Golkanda Holiday Bungalow in Haputhale. The last four images were taken at dawn of the following day from the Bungalow front garden before leaving for Yala.
Quite a find Jude. Amazing how natural selection brought on by man's thirst for ivory has reduced the number of tusked eles in Asia and Africa. Super photos and thanks for including the landscape shots.

Wow that must really have been something to see Jude! Really nice work, I like that he is in the trees, it really gives an idea of his size. Nice job on the scapes!

The tusker population is quite low in here. Glad you enjoyed the captures Eric.
