p.1 #1 · Portraits from Mongolia

I was lucky enough to go to Mongolia for work late in January. Here are some portrait style pics from the trip:

1 - These are some surveyors at the mine I visited, checking the data at the face:

2 - This guy was at a place called 'Big Ger', which is where the investors used to stay at the mine, he's a security guard and was wandering around by himself when we arrived. We were rugged up like you wouldn't believe, it was probably -20C to -25C, but he was quite happy like this:

3 - This was taken atop the Chinggis Khan statue, where you take internal stairs inside the horse up onto its head:

4 - My host, after standing outside atop the horses head for no more than 10 minutes! It was cold:

5 - A gentleman who was happy to pose for me in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, where he hires his horses (ponies?) to tourists:

7 - The caretaker at the Buddhist Monastery in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. He was kind enough to open up and show us around:

Note that portraits aren't usually my 'thing', so be gentle :-)

I started my trip off in the far south of Mongolia, in the (or, underneath, to be more accurate) the Gobi Desert and then spent the last week in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. I still can't get over seeing snow in the desert and the COLD in UB, -39C at some points!

Looks like a great trip. The picture of the Khan statue is cool. Like the last a lot as well.
