p.1 #1 · portrait...how can i make it better?

This was from 2010 archives and I shot this next to a window so its just natural light...did some PP to give a different look with a gray bg (as the original wall was white)....not sure if its working....C&C is greatly appreciated....can we make this better??

There is a very distinct halo around you, so if the wall was white and you darkened it, it's very obvious.

The lighting angle is good...of course the camera is distracting, but other than the background its pretty good.

To me there is not enough contrast in the image. Making it gray scale and making the wall gray - it all kind of blends.

In my opinion what it would take to "make it better" is to leave the wall white as you shot it, and use a higher contrast black and white conversion. But this is really a matter of taste.
