Trying to get the focus to beep on my 1DsII with my Zeiss 100MP ZE, i have looked all through the manual and cannot find it, am i missing something? Any help is always appreciated.

Jim,
thats what i thought, i have the switch in the right spot but still no beep.Is there anything else that has to be set right? Or will they not beep with a ZE lens?

ZE lenses have focus confirmation as a standard feature. Only focus is manual, otherwise they behave like regular Canon lenses.
Jim -- you are aiming the camera at a subject with adequete contrast, right? Low light/no contrast areas won't register/beep. You've checked your AF settings to make sure they are okay and have the center AF point?
"In the AI Servo AF mode, when focus is achieved, the viewfinder's focus confirmation light does not light and the beeper does not sound." [manual pg 67]
Hmmm. . . I was using the ZE 21/2.8 on my 1Ds2 last night for some twilight shots and it beeped every time, except if I had a dark area of no contrast under the center AF. Don't know what to say.
BTW -- another neat feature of these 1D series: I was playing around with the two 1D2's and one 1Ds2 yesterday, after I noticed they all had slightly different color balance. In the past, I'd never had a camera that was precisely adjustable for WB, so I set the afternoon aside to try to even out the WB and Exposure Compensation in exposures between all three. Pretty cool to be able to shift the blue/amber and magenta/green axes to produce similar color balance. Just one of the perks of a pro camera.
It looks like the focus confirmation with my 100ZE is spot on, so i think in some situations this could help with MF by taking advantage of all the Focus squares on the 1DsII.
