Today while driving in the country I saw an old barn so I pull off the road and the lens would not focus way off I could see it in the VF. I looked at all my setting thinking maybe I bumped one no all is good. So I tried to take a few more shots and same OOF big time so I heard a little rattle coming from the lens and I found an aspirin bottle somehow while on the seat rolled into the lens hood I was so relief all I thought was shit I have to send it in. Now this is one weird story
Closest I've had to that was to get a good mile or so down a trail, go to snap a photo only to see pitch black and realize I forgot to take the cap off the lens.
Many years ago, my six-year old son (now an Air Force pilot) thought it would be funny to put a "smiley face " on the front element of my 300mm f2.8L, with Mom's lipstick...

Now that is really funny I love it and wow an Air Force pilot now that's something to be very proud of way to go
Those push-pull aspirin bottle caps can be a real pita compared to twist caps. Also, 100 count -400 grain aspirin is not far from normal, but 500/1000 can be tough to stomach.
