Fish outta water when shooting wildlife. Borrowed a 300mm f/4 and shot these on my D700 at a local lake.

#2 AND #4 are bloody fantastic! In the others I feel like the blues in the water are a bit too saturated, taking my eye off the duck itself.

The colors in 1,3,4 ar superb. At first look I thought you shot these with your bread and butter lens the 85.

Haha, Maybe if I was using Nikons un-released 3.5xTC. The 300 was sweet to use though. Light and easy to handle for the hour or so that I shot out there. ALMOST makes me want to buy one, but then I'd have to figure out more time to use it to justify the expense.
