Lady on the right is Darren Law's (driver of the #5 Action Express Daytona Prototype) wife getting a big hug from one of her daughters after the race. My dad and I are friends with the Law's, VERY nice people and Kerry is fun to hang out with at the races while Darren is in the car.
My dad was hired by Continental Tire (title sponsor) to do his artwork thing at the track. Here's one of his live paintings which was bought by Continental
Overall, an amazing weekend, once again. This was my 4th trip in a row to the race, it's always different, always fun. I'm finally starting to get some paying clients to make the trips easier!
Thanks everybody. And as far as I know, the R8's were only going to run Daytona, unfortunately. They had a REALLY tough race mechanically which is really not like them, the problem was the clutch. The R8 LMS is designed for the GT3 championship in Europe where they allow traction control, in Grand Am it's not allowed so the clutch was under much great stress because the tires would lose traction coming out of a corner then suddenly find it, and all that sudden torque load ripped apart the clutch discs. Both Audi's replaced their clutches which was about a two hour job each time.
Will yeah these are Superb, just nice slices of how it should be caught! I gotta get back to the Rolex 24! last and only time I was there was in 2001 and I did'nt have all my fancy dancy photography lense's and camera bodies back then. love to get back and give it a go again!
Thanks pappa! It's QUITE the challenge to shoot here without credentials, but ironically it's the most difficult tracks to get credentials at. I was shooting for one of the drivers and even then I did get a P pass which gets me everywhere including the pits, but it's not good enough to get a photo vest to get inside the fence around the infield part of the track. They're very strict there, eventhough I saw people walking around with photo vests on taking pictures of cars on track that were still 100-200 feet away from them shooting with a Rebel and a 18-55 or 55-250 as their only gear. Mind boggling.
Just a quick but nice update - got a call from Reba McEntire's company today and they want me to shoot for her son Shelby at the rest of the races this season! Very excited!
