p.1 #1 · Let Velvia Loose... Sunrise at the Inlet

Hi all,

Velvia is such a high contrast film that I go through great lengths to minimize that. This time I let it loose .

There is a crop below the full image, approx 1/2 scale of a 40x50 inch print size, of the detail on the shoreline. It's not pure black......

Best,

Jose

Yep, that's Velvia alright.
Lovely shot, Jose.
What do you use to scan your trannies?

Thanks. I use an Epson V700 with VueScan Pro software and Wolf Faust profiles: http://www.targets.coloraid.de/

I get the images really close to what I want them to be except for the definition needed for very large prints that come from a very expensive scanner that requires a lot of expertise to work with.

For my prints I have my negatives and slides scanned by James Beck in Colorado: http://jamesbeckdigital.com/jbdscans/home.html

Thanks again,

Jose

Gorgeous. I'm still amazed everytime I see an Xpan velvia tranny and how much detail you can see in the blacks/shadow areas.

Thanks all . The image below was made quite a bit earlier, and cropped to 617 format. I did this one with Velvia 100F because it has no reciprocity issues to 8-minutes. That is more than I can measure on my light meter on most shoots.

Thanks again,

Jose

I'm very much a panoramic fan and shooting it more & more...so for me, I prefer that crop you've done! Love the colour of the water, or lack of it! Very well exposed.

Sir these are very nice photographs. Myself has just started with Velvias. I am really looking forward to move up to medium format soon maybe with a G617. Keep posting.
