Remember that period in the first 6 months of owning a DSLR and getting photoshop when you felt the need to use EVERY SINGLE FUNCTION on every single image you ever took?
Well thanks to a random advert that popped up whilst I was browsing canonrumors you can now do it at the touch of a button.
The point of moving forward and innovating is often about making a process more automated and faster, reducing the effort and time needed to achieve a desired effect. In some respects I can see the mileage in this software and if used correctly I have no doubt that you can achieve some very nice results.
The problem is that it will most likely be sought after by the amateurs who don't really know how to achieve the effects they want and are looking for a quick solution instead of learning to PP properly, and more importantly capture the picture right in the first place. This will lead to a mountain of photos becoming more and more common place which are just massivley over processed and look, well, just awful.
HDR is a prime example. When done properly it can produce sensational images with a tonal and dynamic range that is more in line with what the human eye interprets. Often a little push beyond the norm is excellent too, but if you have ever had the misfortune of trawling through something like 'Instagram' and seen the HDR tags on there you will note that easily 99.5% of the HDR images are absolutely vulgar over saturated, over processed abominations!! Strangely, they do still seem to appeal to many people!! That brings me to my point I suppose, we're all individual.
