Just curious. About what percentage of your albums would you say you have to send back to the album company because they're either printed so incredibly off center you'd think a kindergartner did the measurements, or have pages so warped you can't close the album, or are just straight up damaged? Or even funnier, have the name of a completely different couple on them? I get that mistakes happen, but I'm at about 40% of albums need to be returned to two completely different companies. Another 30% still have stuff wrong, but it's minor enough I let it go. In the past month, I've had both companies remake the albums twice, and the remakes came in worse. Anyone else have these difficulties?
One of the remakes from the past month was a press printed book. All the others were albums, very expensive albums. One company is pretty big and pretty well known for being high end. Last time I mentioned them on here they called me within an hour to fix things. Sure I was impressed at the time, but several bad albums later and same problem, not so much.
We've had three misprinted press books (two different companies) and five misprinted flush mount books (same company) in the past 4-5 years. All have been because of color issues and all have been fixed promptly.
Edit: It's going to come down to if you still want to gamble with them in the future. There are enough suppliers that cutting your loses will probably have a favorable outcome.
Had issues with one company and switched after they were snarky about it. Customer service said I should have set my client expectations lower to account for their mistakes.
And we changed companies right away
I've never had to send anything back to Leather Craftsmen. In fact, I've had the production person call me if they see something off with the prints I send them (before they start mounting). Both their customer service and product is stellar.
This was the main reason we switched three years ago from using a very famous Italian based press-book company, to a more expensive (but higher quality,) UK based company, SIM2000.
Since switching we have placed over 50+ orders and only had to return about 3 books for small imperfections, all of which were collected from our studio, remade and returned to us within 7 working days.
Excellent service and the highest quality press books we have ever seen!
I use Zookbinders and have a 100% success rate with their product other than the fact they can never seem to include the pens in the box when I order a sign in book.
