p.1 #1 · Unidentfied Object/help

Hi,
Going through gear misplaced and unfamiliar to me and I need help in identifying what it is and what it goes with. I had this object in an area where I kept my Gitzo 3530LS extras.
Can anyone help an old man, (who must be getting senile) but telling me what this object is and what it is used for.
It is dish shaped with steps, rounded at its base and it is very solid metal. Pops

Looks like part of a "video bowl" leveling base for a tripod --- probably replaces a Gitzo top plate and accepts a leveling base contraption that slides/tilts within it.

Looks like a UFO to me. You can verify this by throwing it in the air like a frisbee. If it does not come back, it is definitely a UFO.

You are not only a master of imagemaking but a gentleman with a sense of humor.

(and if he tosses it int oa tub of water and it sinks and rusts and gets damaged and ruined then it was an expensive gitzo tripod something or other but if it floats and remains undamaged then it's a useless plastic piece of bewitched junk than can be thrown out)
