Is there a round of them expected in mid Feb.? I seem to remember reading that, but maybe it was wishful thinking.
Trying to decide whether to grab a 35L while rebates are on or wait to see what is announced. I would buy from B&S if I miss the rebates and there's not an updated 35L on the way by Spring time. I do have a good copy of the 35/2 to hold me over.
will the existing 35L get any worse with the announcement of a new one ?
if the current one is good value with the rebates then jump on it , anything new will cost quite a bit more.
and from my reasoning I would think the 35L would be at the back of a que for any new lenses. the last lenses to be updated in the wider primes were the 24L and the 14L . but both of their older versions were renowned under performers. the 35L is not an underperformer.
I just picked up the Bower 35 1.4 and have been amazed! Can't go wrong if you don't mind manual focus, which I happen to enjoy! If you want the Canon, I would at least wait a week. They do usually announce a lens or two when coming out with a new camera... It can't hurt to just see what it is, as long as you don't "need" it today.
Mid Februray Canon is expected to announce a new L. The lens is being used by one photographer on this forum who has said they cannot post pics until the NDA has passed.

Problem (if you can call it that) is the recent ver. II lens improvements have been really good - ala TSE 24 II and 70-200 II. I like the version II Koolaid.
