I currently have a D80 with max ISO 1600 (not using H1, etc) and currently looking at upgrading to D90 due to video, keep flash commander, etc.
How much of an ISO quality improvement is the D90 compared to the D80? I know the specs are ISO 200-3200, but not sure how the actual improvement would be to reduce noise, etc.
I am amazed at some of these cameras with ISO 6400 and higher that have minimal noise to create great images.
Is the improvement on the D90 worth it or should I be looking at another model?

While D90 is still a capable camera you can boost the IQ by looking for a used D7000. If exposed right images are usable up to 6400 ISO. Apart of this AF module and image processor are very much improved. Also the look & feel of D7000 is more pro than D90.
The D90 will give you a nice bump in high ISO image quality over the D80. IMO, it would be a worthwhile upgrade given its reasonable used price point.
However, if video is an important factor I'd try to find a way to get the D7000. I don't have personal experience with the D90 but if I recall the video capabilities were not well regarded.
The D90 & D300 share very similar sensors, the D90's is reported to possibly be slightly better at high ISO. This is only web sized, but this is ISO 6400 with a D300, RAW processed in LR3 and using it's NR.
Thanks for the input. I never really looked into anything else but have been comparing to D5100 and D7000. I really like the D7000 specs and will possibly look at this as an upgrade to D80 instead of D90.
