let me just say, there is one lens I've never shot with whether it be Canon or Nikon. The 200MM F1.8 or F2.0. Well I finally bought one. Let me just say. This may just be a game changer for me. I can't wait to get used to shooting with it. Here are just two I quickly grabbed while importing from the game I shot tonight. I didn't go wide open with it just yet. When I get done with the stuff for the paper I will post a few more. Tonight I used the 200MM on one body and the 400MM F2.8 on the other.
No comparison but i got a 50 1.4 for Xmas of my wife. Over my 2.8's it wowed me pretty much the same as your purchase. I had my 24 - 70 on with a flash as the family opened presents. I opened the lens, got excited. Put it on the camera and shot with the same settings as the 2.8...........WRONG! Sooooooo much more light it was NUTTS,
Good job on the purchase and making a dull game look good! Sorry.........cant stand basketball. Great shots though.

Nice set. Two kids from Desoto have signed with SEMO for next season. But I'm not sure which ones.
Thanks.
I think it's Jared White and Colin Ferguson. Ferguson is #32 in the last pic. De Soto is my Alma Mater I graduated in 1989 from there and still live 4 blocks from there. This team has a chance to do something special if they keep their heads on straight.
Wow, if only those were white lenses. ;-) OK, I'm a bit envious. I used the 200 2.0 one time and it was really nice but did not have it long enough to get used to that length for basketball. Certainly allows you to shoot tight and blow out the backgrounds. Looks like you are well on your way. Enjoy!

More like forces you too! It felt tighter in the near court to me being used to shooting with a 70-200 or 85MM F1.8 for near court. Then the 400 does shooting far court. One thing I love about it though. With a 1.4 it's almost a 300MM F2.8 at 280MM.
Just don't tell my CC I think it's still smoking from this last purchase. :P

hey, my wife (pretty sure) went to Desoto HS. I'll have to show her these pics . great captures...
Thanks. It would be interesting to find out if she did. I may know her. De soto MO is a small town and I've lived here all my life. I know or know of most here.
I shot a tourney last year with a 200 F2 and need to review my shots. I have a 70-200 2.8 and a 300 2.8, but would love shooting 200 F2 and 400 2.8. Lugging them around is another story! And the damage$. But still so tempted.
Not having the hood on that 200 would make me really nervous, that big honking glass is so close to the edge plus this lens is top heavy so its easy to bang it. Go ahead and shoot it wide open and watch that ISO drop in the bargain.
