p.1 #1 · Two Low Light, Long Exposures from Sydney

As per title, I took these at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair in Sydney a couple of nights ago. Perhaps a little cliché, although I do enjoy shooting there and am trying to improve each time I go.

Thanks for looking.

Super shots Steve. Mrs Macquarie's Chair was one of my favourite locations for shooting when I visited Sydney.

p.1 #4 · Two Low Light, Long Exposures from Sydney

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

The EXIF for the first shot is :
Camera Nikon D700
Exposure 15
Aperture f/16.0
Focal Length 50 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias 0 EV

and the second shot is:
Camera Nikon D700
Exposure 13
Aperture f/14.0
Focal Length 50 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias -1/3 EV

The Exif data is enabled on the Flickr links so have a look for a more detailed list.

I agree David, it's an awesome spot and you can shoot there just with a 50mm on FX/Full Frame which is lucky for me because that's all I own.

I think I definitely improved on my last shots there, so I was happy with that.

Thanks again fellas.

I’m surprised the water did not smooth out more in the first photo as the sky has such nice cloud streaking. Overall this is a beauty Steve. I like the second as well though the first is my pick

Sweet! You nailed the exposure, I always find my highlights blowing out in shots like these.

It could just be me...but the second one seems slightly tilted. Have I lost it?

Thanks.

Smoother water would have been nice but I'm not really sure how to use the bulb function yet and I don't have any ND filters to counter the extra long exposures...

ND and Grad ND's are high on my list of things to get next for my camera.

I'm pretty sure the shot is straight, the virtual horizon on the camera said it was.

Perhaps in this one because I was shooting from almost behind the opera house and the water on the left is lighter and has an angled ripple..?

If it is, it doesn't seem noticeable to my eyes, then again I'm biased.

Thanks Ray.

I have been wanting to go out shooting again often but the rain we're having this summer in Sydney is ridiculous!!

BEAUTIFUL.
Looks a tad tilted to the left to me as well.
I'd clone out the plane on the top right in the first picture.
They are both great shots tho.

Thanks Bill.

It must look a tad skewed, you're about the third person to mention it.
I'll adjust the shot and post it again I think.

Cheers

Thanks fellas.

I feel the same way when I see good landscapes from rural areas.
