I rarely do matted albums. In this case I ordered up a really nice matted album from Seldex through Finao per the clients wishes. Used their software program to compile the images and it created what they call an omni-print, which is one print containing all of the images to be shown on one page. You basically just slip the omni-print into the matte and you're done.
Instead of being smart and having them print and assemble the 13"13" album (almost $1K), I thought I would save a few bucks and print the files on my own. Now I am realizing that the omni-prints are odd sized (12.6" x 12.6") and I'm having a tough time finding a printer that can do this size economically. I would just print out 13" x 13" and trim white space at the edges.
Anyone know of a viable printing option I haven't thought of? The folks at Finao were less than helpful. Looks like bay photo does it, but its $12 a print.
I have to say... I have YET to find an album company that can do the exact style of half matted half digi album that I want to offer. The QB Musee is great but I mean come on unless you are an oil tycoon you cannot afford one. Heck I cannot even afford to have a sample made.
I hear your frustrations Scott. We can take it out on the ski slopes this weekend!
The QB Duo is BUT you cannot submit your own prints. No way in HELL I am going to digitize my 4x5 stuff if I am having that kind of album made. You can only submit prints for he Musee. Sucks.

give it a try. i'm telling you, a good scan printed on fiber paper out of an epson with K3 inks looks pretty damn good. i'd venture to say 99.x% of a wet printed neg.
scott, i was going to suggest what kurtis did. good luck. i have a 3800 if you get stuck.
