I preordered at AUD$1,848 (USD$1,964) so it could be worse...
but I ordered from a brick and mortar that I trust and is very good at dealing with warranty issues, I wouldnt have it any other way with a fuji early production model. Bit more peace of mind and someone to scream at
Besides if I ordered from B&H I'd cop 10% GST at customs because it's >$1k, plus a handling fee and shipping from the US, I'd barely break even.

I think the price is pretty decent. Lenses are reasonable too. Granted, $1200 or $1500 would be better, but they probably don't wanted to be associated as a value brand.

I preordered one as well as the 35 1.4 and 18 2 but Im unsure if im going to keep the preorder...
The price is definitely more than I expected and I do feel the body is over priced. Considering the x100 is $1100 with a lens, I feel like $1400 would be a fair price for the body.

If the X-Pro 1 pre-order level is much higher than the pre-order of x-100 previously released, then it will hit the market share of 5Dx (or 5D III) if Canon decided to release it soon. As the owner of 5D Classic, I hoped someone will release a smaller body (like X-Pro 1) and has the IQ that 95% matched the 5DII, then I can forget the 5DIII or 5DX..

Once someone makes a FF mirrorless with a NEX-like mount I'll be in that boat.

Besides the fact, if this is true then I've no interest in the X-PRO 1...
"Fuji did not make any improvements to the manual focus in the X-Pro 1 - there is still not focus confirmation or "focus peaking" (like in the Sony NEX or Ricoh GXR systems), which could be problematic if you are planning on using the camera with Leica M-mount lenses."

I think I'm taking the plunge on this. I have two weeks in Mexico come May, and my current options are 7D, S95, or film. Better men than I would lug the DSLR, chill out and use the S95, or figure out how to get 20 rolls of 120 through the airport. The weak and impressionable man I am looks at this Fuji and says, Wow, that could be an amazing travel companion . . .

I like my x100 and I think the images are great on it, but if this x-pro 1 is just slightly better than the x100, then the price premium isn't worth it. I would have liked to see some better video abilities (60p), and apparently faster focusing.
