Once you handle a 1 series there's not going back, the balance with heavy glass is so much better than using a non 1 body, the vertical grip, weather sealing, focusing and frame rate is unparallelled.
Not true, at least not for me. To me, IQ is always the most important aspect of photography, bells & whistles & handling convenience etc. less so. So, while I love the feature set and AF of the 1-series, in my case, I'd happily give up my 1DmkIV to keep only my 5DmkII. YMMV.
THE biggest difference from film, that and user selectable ISO.
To be able to capture a scene with mixed lighting and reprocess a RAW file so you can easily and quickly combine different colour temperatures and selectively sharpen is an utter godsend.
Clearly Raw at this point for me.Then full-frame and live view. And then I have this urge for the 1D-series. It would also be a weird world without Manual exposure. And....
Well, come to think of it, a flip-out LCD and video is the only things I can do without when it comes to enjoying taking photos.

Owned a 1Ds, went to a 5D without a single solitary pang. Had a 1Ds3, went back to my 5D's, miss the camera for its exceptional sensor, LV, battery life, MA and ergonomics but not the size, weight, buffer or lack of C mode.
Well, I voted FF because thats the format I grew up with. But you totally omitted image stabilization which has been the biggest advancement to my photography (other then digital) since I started. Sharp, hand-held images, freedom from tripods, spontaneity, chasing wildlife, candid portraits, I won't buy another lens that doesn't have IS!
I have to say I also have and use a 5Dll and like the lower weight and profile when I don't want to carry the 1DlV, the IQ on it is one of the best on either Canon or Nikon bodies. But when I want to use long glass I use the 1DlV.
