Man you just gotta love that lemans winning Peogeot,
I love the technology in these things, the Audi Lemans coupe might be advanced , but boy it aint georgeous like the Peugeot !!
I got a friend who drive lemans & is doing GT1 in Europe this year, hes been telling me about the Honda HPDE car....& the simulator !! WOW unbelievable technology.
The end of the short straight going into turns 6 and on through turn 7 are good morning spots (turns 6 and 7 you are only 20 to 25 ft. from cars, no catch fences), cars then exit turn 7 onto the back straight… Spectator Hill (the downhill esses) is also a very good spot. The chicane at the end of the long back straight and then up and under the Bridge and out the other side through a right hander and onto the front straight and Start/Finish. The turn 1 area is fast and can provide some great shots…Road Atlanta is a fast track…you should do well and have fun..

Jefferson nice shots...hows the whole panning thing work never shot cars or bikes before?
The pans are shot in shutter priority, spot metering, center point, AI Servo, with the ISO as low as I can go, and I let the aperture float. Morning shooting is best because of the light, but later in the day with harsh light…sometime you get f/22…or more…you’ll see every dust spot you will ever have on you sensor.
Gotta’ shoot ‘em when they run…
I generally aim at the helmet (or area with contrast), and follow through with the center point on target. I want the shutter speed as slow as I can get, usually between 1/60th and 1/125th. Don’t aim at the headlights on an AMLS car, even in daylight…that will make for one dark image…those things are bright!
Elevations change rapidly at a track like Road Atlanta, so your shooting is all hand held…
Bikes take some practice, but same basic idea…but those bikes don’t hang around long, for a shot like that, you may want to pre-focus on a spot on the track you know is a passing point or some other dynamic moment or event happens regularly.
