Fantastic shots! How in the world do you catch these at 400mm or less so close? I finally managed a "close up" the other day with a 500mm and it still didn't quite fill the frame!

Great shots Tony!! Maybe some of my favorites of yours that I have seen. You certainly are getting the IQ out of the 100-400. I could tell they must be cropped a fair amount to get that DoF at f8 FL=320.
One question, why is the middle image more blue than the other two?
I guess I need a blind - as my KF shots are not this close unless I do a huge crop that destroys the quality of the image. They're really cool birds and are great fishermen! Fun to watch and listen to.
I love that 2nd one - it looks oblivious to your presence and intent on finding it's next meal
Thanks for the link Tony. It's a method I've been considering lately. Do you set up your blind in the spot you've chosen and leave it there for a few days or do you setup early in the morning the same day of shooting?
#3 is just gorgeous. I love the context and the posture of the subject. Thanks for sharing it.
