Our HS moved their division up a few years ago and we have a new rival, but the intensity w/ our old rival still remains. Our team needed a win as they had lost a few recently; fortunately they got it so they are still in the running for a post-season berth.
All are very nice, Chris. I think the 300 served you well, at least on #10, which is one of my favorites. Great timing on #5, another of my favorites. Numbers 2, 4 &7 are also very good!
Very brightly lit; were these with strobes?
Chris,
Pretty decent light in the gym. I'm jealous My browser (Safari) doesn't seem to have an EXIF add-in, so I'd be interested in what settings you used.
I find girls BB much harder to shoot than boys. (I shoot both for the local paper.) The local girls team just broke a 64 game losing streak by beating their arch rivals 17-15. With the exception of one elite team (a private Catholic school) and another much larger school, girls at this level seem to play the game with their feet on the floor. (At the moment I'm writing this instead of working on the stories due today. I mean what can I say that comes out positive in an "effort" where the local team failed to score a basket, made 4 free throws and went down 59-4. Tough one.)
LIke you I get a lot of shots like 1,3,8. I call them "group grabs." I like the intensity of #1, the timing in #5, and for composition and color #10 is probably the best. I've taken to spending a quarter as high in the stands as possible (maybe 20' off the floor) with my 135L. The perspective often gives great looks.
I was shooting ISO 8000, f2.8, 1/640. Wow, that's a long losing streak.
I hear you WRT the different game. In fact, in this game neither side scored until 3 mins left in the first period...I was afraid they might not break 20 for the game!
And as you say, even when there is some height involved, we rarely get the high jumps, and on blocks, I've seen many tall girls remain planted with their feet on the floor as they block.
