SmugMug offers a trial period for all levels of service they provide.
Been a customer for many years and very happy with their service. I've occasionally used their support services with good success--at first, I was reluctant to go the email only route but honestly, I've rarely had an issue.
If you decide to signup, you can use this coupon, dnNzffFVl7W5U, to get a bit of a discount. Trenchmonkey should give you his coupon code since he was first to advise you It's a win for both the recipient and giver.
I'm looking for a good way to sell my landscape, street life etc photos. Anyone use smugmug or similar and what are your impressions? Thank you.
Charles
it's verynice other than they forbid any images in other than sRGB and will forcibly attempt to convert any image uploaded to sRGB even if it can't be done properly or you don't want it to be done grrrrrr and doesn't exactly help slowly build any wide gamut true view image sharing if even the biggest hosting sites deny the ability
flickr and pbase allow that stuff but otherwise they are worse
The great thing about SmugMug is the emails you get...
every time you make a sale it's "cha-ching baby, who loves ya!" and the 7th of every month
the Countess of Cash lets ya know how much tomorrows deposit will be. Happy times, eh?!
ZENFOLIO!!! I had a Pro Smugmug account for a year and switched to Zenfolio and it is definitely better. I love Zen! Zen is ALOT easier to customize and change stuff and it still looks great. Everytime I wanted to change stuff on Smugmug I had to goto the Dgrin forums and read about a bunch of html and coding to figure out how to change anything. It was a pain and took up alot of time learning the codes to change stuff on Smugmug when i'd rather be doing photography. Smugmug is good but Zenfolio is better.
