I'm liking the effect, the stretched out pose pulling the eye up and across the image. Not sure if it vignetting or some odd lighting but the oval area in which he traverses seems a bit too defined and I think a more gradual shift in luminosity along the edges would work better.

Yes I made the vignette sharper than usual for a spotlight effect, as if the mantis was a performer on stage. Might have been a bit over the top.

The mantis was very small and very active. None of the images I grabbed were as sharp as I'd like. But, I liked the shape he/she assumed and the lines of the legs and body, so I played with it.

I shoot with raw plus jpeg. Here's a reduced size of the in camera jpeg if anyone want to play more with it.
