So i have been following a beauty photographer who does "interesting" things with his models in such that he has them wear bags on their heads as head pieces etc and belts around necks. But what i have found the most is that its the "things" he does with the models which is interesting - as well as having gorgeous photos.
I have tried to not exactly follow his footsteps but try and utilise the way of using "things" on models to come up with stuff. Here are my first 2 examples. Unfortunately the lace thing has been done a million times before but hey, im super happy with them.
In the first one, I would have rotated the lace so that the eye could have been seen, since all the work done in the makeup is now hidden in that area.
More DOF in the first shot would be interesting. As is, we see three areas in sharp focus with OOF between those areas (left shoulder, lips & lace). The hidden eye does add some uniqueness or mystery and as you say - makes the lips stand out more.
#2 is well done.
A minor nit: I'd suggest a crop of the bottom to remove the focused area, bottom right. Keep all of that lace OOF.
I like the first photo with one exception.;. I do not like her right eye being hidden.. would rather see her eye..
Not that I know anything.. she is very beautiful!
I find the #1 image to be a bit surreal so I like it like it is. Every portrait seems to have perfect focus on the eye and this one made me lean back and look for awhile. Creative.

Just a thought.
+1 hard to look at her without at least one eye. The second is stellar.

Both are stellar. As for the hidden eye -- I'm good with it being totally hidden or visible through the lace. I just don't quite like it as is, which is just having a bit of red (almost looks like bruise) peeking through.
