Holy Mandarin Duck Batman! I've never seen one of these in person. What a beautiful duck and beautifully captured! They all are beautiful but, that Mandarin is just drop dead gorgeous!
Thank you so much for your comment Jeannean. Happy shooting.
Gorgeous, Vince! The only Mandarin Ducks I've seen with any regularity here in LaLaLand are at the LA Arboretum, miles away from me. They're quite spectacular, and #3 is about as good a portrait of these beauties as I've seen. All excellent, perfect light, comp -- and you can't beat that water-level perspective!

The Mandarin portrait is my favourite.....very detailed, well exposed and with convincing colours.
This is obviously a matter of personal preference, but I think a warmer yellow-brown-green family of colours would work better for its background than blue.
Yes, the colours, exposure, framing and wing attitude of the duck IF is also very nice.
Thank you for your comment PetKal. Regarding the blue background. It would be nicer if that picture have warmer bg, but at the time I capture it, the lake behind was a background, so I just leave it the way I captured it. Thanks for your recommendation.
