Great bokeh, nice eye contact. Beautiful hawk series overall... I learnt something new today...
The last shot with open beak is excellent.

They all look spot on focus wise.
The first one looks a bit on the dark side to me.
Hard to compare the first three with the last given that the bg is so different and makes such a difference to that shot.

Thank you, Phoo.......there isn't much that you do not know about BIF photography.....it took me seeing only two shots of yours to figure that out .

Thank you, Martin....you are obviously correct, different background type makes the shot appear different. Also, focus had to be good....after all, the shots were done to verify Servo AF performance of different camera/lens combos. That is also why I tried to do a fair bit of head-on flights with a non-vacant background.

Oh yes, the first shot was both shot and left quite dark on purpose, i.e., that wasn't an exposure/pp oversight.

I like them. I practised my BIF technique on seagulls too! I actually shot a whole series of just seagulls on the roof of my old work place following them from nest building, laying eggs, hatching, and then flying away. Seagulls can be photogenic if you just give them a chance!

Nice seagull shots I mean to go out shooting easy birds more but never get round to it.

Thank you, Shreeni.......he is saying "I want some respect, I can fly fast too, you know".

Here is something for those folks who prefer uniformly smooth background bokeh , done with 400 f/2.8 IS MkI and 200 f/2 IS.

I love the light in 1, and that's a great pose in 2. 3 was my pick until I saw 4, but 5 is tops ~ Ron

Peter, i,ve got bad news for you. I'm afraid you have achieved the range now that indicates addiction........especially carting around 3 lenses. You're in trouble now! Lolol lots of hawks down here if you need a larger fix.

All kidding aside, you've done this well even before the long lenses! I'd love your opinion of the 400DO compared to the 300 if you have the time. Thnx.
