Hi Norm!
I attend these Conservatory butterfly shows all the time for the exotic bf's. Nothing wrong with that at all!!
Here in Maryland we have "photographer's only" butterfly shoots at the local Conservatories in the summer. Only 10 photographers at a time and any/all eqpt you can bring.
Nice images!!!
A FYI on the unique "mocker swallowtail" quoting from Bernard d'Abrera-World Butterflies-"the most famous case of polymorphism..are considered by workers to mimic the properties of other species in the region and is famously called the "lookalike dardanus swt." Native to Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

Dan, Thanks for you looking and commenting, especially on the info on the "lookalike dardanus swt."
The Tucson exhibit is in a very small room, probably not more than 30ft long by15 ft wide. Most of the space is filled with plants and with a very narrow walk way. Fortunately, it isn't usually too crowded and they have an attendant who keeps an eye of the children who can get over-enthused.

What a great set Norm. I was undecided when I left the house the other day to go to the greenhouse or the butterfly garden, you are building a case for a visit to the butterfly garden very soon.
Each is nicely presented, the last one is my favorite

Nice set Norm, I recognized and shot only the postman in this set. I like #1 and 4 best.
Thanks Herb. I;m a complete dunce when it comes to butterflies. I got the idea to visit the Botanical Gardens when I saw a drab looking butterfly in my garden the other day. It's hard to go wrong with the variety and beauty of the ones at the display.
Very nice set, Norm with fine colors and detail.
Have you tried the 70-300 L with butterflies? My favorite lens for butts was the 300/4 until I got the 70-300L

Socrate, No I haven't used the 70-300 L on butterflies but I suspect it might be good outdoors in the summer. In the confines of this exhibit I used 100mm 2.8L is. It was about the first time i have used it and it is a gem for up close and personal.
