p.1 #1 · Will Spyder 2 Pro Calibrate An LED Backlit LCD Monitor?
I have a Dell Ultrasharp backlit LCD monitor (U2412) on the way to me. Does anyone know if Spyder 2 Pro will calibrate it? I have scoured the internet and cannot find a reliable answer. I hope you can help.

Not reliably. I thought that the only thing that can manage LED well was the colormunki. I used the Spyder 3 Pro on an LED screen and that seemed ok.
Investigate the Eye 1 Display Pro. That may work?
yeah i1 Display Pro would work, and looking at Dry Creek data, probably a lot better than the munki, in fact it looks like it may do better than the i1 Pro spectro which itself does better than the munki.
although only certain software supports it now since xrite had tried to lock it down with crazy DRM and only have started to ease up to some extent
CEDP says it might support it within a month or two though
some hdtv calibration programs and NEC SV II work with it for now

I emailed Datacolor and here is their response:
Thank you for submitting a ticket and your purchase of a Datacolor product.
The Spyder2-Sensor is an pretty older sensor and is not able to calibrate displays with LED backlight, wide gamut displays or displays with a high-gloss surface. All these newer technology monitors requires a Spyder4 sensor for proper calibration results.
